La Brea is currently positioned primarily as a southwestern industrial and resource-based community, anchored by the Pitch Lake and the commercial extraction and processing of Trinidad Lake Asphalt, while also supporting significant energy-based industrial activity through the Union Industrial Estate and La Brea Industrial Estate.
